Well They're Only Wishes

Fri Dec 11, 2009, 11:11 AM
At the very least if you don't want to scroll down, visit here!: [link]

STEP ONE

** Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

** If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. In this case, you can always just note someone on dA.

** Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that others can join in and participate to spread the holiday joy!

STEP TWO

** Surf around your friend list to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

** If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

** You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

ONTO THE LIST! (That is not in any real order whatsoever...)

1. Drawings of my characters, even if you've never heard of him/her before. It doesn't have to be fanart at all, (Though that would be pretty cool...) just art that will help me visualize my character. Call it reference art I guess. I can write words and words but when I try to put them into actual drawings my skills are simply not good enough. You don't even have to colour the drawing because that's something I can actually do. If you want to help me out with that, let me know and I can spam you with all the details I have of a character.

2. Make more wishes come true! I can't send anything, and I can't draw fanart, but I'm convinced that if I keep looking I will find something.

3. People to take me up on my art offers especially since I don't make much art in the first place. Seriously, if I say that I want you guys to send me stock photos to try vectoring then do it! Just, you know, make sure it's a picture I'm allowed to vector.

4. A way to make gift art to people with my writing. I can't do fanfiction very well because I'm always nervous when I'm handling their characters. But if there were some way that I could brighten someone's day with a piece of writing just for them then that would be fantastic.

5. Have something I've written in print because someone says, "Yes. This is good. Let's publish this." Basically something that's not self-published. I'm willing to let this wish wait as long as it wants to though.

6. Improve my writing. Specifically, get better at writing/learn to write romance and/or relationships. Any tips or guides you can find that help me with this would be fantastic!

7. When I was volunteering at the local aquarium I was running the touch pools where you could touch some marine life. There was this family that spoke French but barely any English. Instead of trying to interpret their English, I did my best to communicate what the touch pool was in French. I felt like a fool and I bet my grammar would've made my French teachers cry, but the look of relief and joy on their faces made it all worth it and then some. My point? I want more moments like those. If you have any stories of such moments then please do share!

8. See a wild orca breaching.

9. Find a Sims 3 mod that will unlock the hidden traits with the new patch. I had one that worked for a while but once the new patch came in it would end up make the traits and lifetime wishes nonexistant. I want my pyromaniac trait back!

10. For myself and any other writers who feel a bit neglected/left out because they're not artists to not feel that way anymore. Alternatively, to find some excellent and supportive writing clubs here on dA.

Well I have a bunch of little more materialistic wishes (Like more watchers, DDs, subbies, etc. You know, the usual stuff.) but these are the big ones. I know you can't help me with most of these, but I'd be thrilled with a little look around my gallery or even just a comment that says "Hi." :)

Journal Skins & NaNoWriMo

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 11, 2009, 10:17 AM

Journal Skin!

So of course I couldn't help but test out the journal skins. Pretty awesome that us non-subscribers get to test them out for a few days at least.

Anyway. Some of you may've noticed my distinct lack of updating. This is because I've been busy with your typical life stuff, but also because I'm participating in the NaNoWriMo this month. ([link]) For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, you basically have to write 50,000 words in the month of November. There are very few rules so you can write utter nonsense so long as you're writing.
I won't give you the link to my profile because I have my home region set and I'm fairly paranoid about my privacy. I will however tell you that as of this moment I'm at 31,059 words. Turns out that when I want to I can really motor on my writing. When this is finished I might take the time to edit it and put it up here in chapters.

And now:
War has never reached my door
Nor can I recall the words of my great uncles
Who soared through those darkened skies

They say my kind is distanced
And this I admit is true

But how can we connect
When the world runs and hides?
Where we know of deaths,
But what of before?

If I seem distanced
It's for lack of knowing
But I think, I feel
And this, you see
Is the real reason why
We could not forget

Back Again

Sun Aug 9, 2009, 12:50 PM
So a lot of you probably didn't even notice (Or care) that I left. Went on an Alaskan cruise and mostly did a lot of whale watching. I got some pictures, but I could only take my little portable camera and not the awesome SLR so they aren't all that great. Give me some time to sort through them and I'll see if any are good enough to upload.

By the way my internet has yet to give me trouble since my attempts to fix it after the last journal entry. Yeah I probably just jinxed it right there.

Will be trying a new method to writing that I've been meaning to try for a while. Not a style, just a method. It's likely you won't even notice that I'm doing something different.

During my absence I got tagged for a meme. I tried to keep it brief and all but if you wanna skip it just keep scrolling down. By the way I am so breaking rule four. XD

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about themselves on their journal.
3. At the end you have to choose 5 people to tag, and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their page and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. NO tag-backs.

1. I mutter to myself in public, especially in large disorienting crowds. Usually I catch on and tell myself to shut up. I’m really quiet though and so far I haven’t gotten any sort-of-glances-only-not-really-because-I’m-trying-not-to-stare. At least I don’t think so…

2. My first introduction to comics were Archie comics I could buy in grocery stores and at airports and X-Men Evolution. Clearly in the end I was drawn more to X-Men and even today I have old XME episodes floating around on my iPod.

3. I still love Pokemon. Once in a while my friend and I will spontaneously start ranting about the Pokemon we miss and love. He’s really a first generation person though. I went up to silver then stopped, but I know a bit about the newer Pokemon because I have younger cousins who are still interested. For the record, my favourite is Eevee.

4. I don’t like bookmarks with tassels on the end or those really long ones. I like ones that’ll fit neatly in a paperback so that there aren’t any ends poking out. Why? Because for the longest time when I put books in my bags the bookmark ends kept getting mauled.

5. I try to let weeks pass between reading the webcomics I’ve bookmarked so that I get the satisfaction of being able to read a chunk of a story at a time. However I am frequently addicted to certain comics and so it…Doesn’t always work…To say the least…

6. No matter what I will go and thank everyone for a fav/watch. Even when I got that DD I went and thanked every single person. Which took forever and broke my internet on one occasion, but I figure it was worth it.

7. I prefer vectoring animals instead of people. Although I do people from time to time for the practice. Well that was random.

8. I am so OCD that I categorize my favourites.

*Wants to Stab the Wireless*

Tue May 19, 2009, 6:44 PM
So...Ever since the Internet Explorer update my wireless internet has sucked. Messengers still work just fine but the actual surfing the internet is a bit of a problem. So...Any and all online activity will be sporadic at best. Until then, I will be spamming the Ctrl + R.

Wolverine Movie

Sat May 9, 2009, 4:52 PM
So I saw the Wolverine movie today. I'm going to try and keep my excitement spoiler free for now. Later on I might decide to write an extensive review. =P

Um...Yeah. A few sentences to sum up how I felt.

It needed more Cajun spice! A little dash of French would've been great. Though the cockiness was certainly there.

I saw Pietro! Don't deny it that was so Quicksilver!

Emma Frost's diamond skin was weird looking up close.

Wade Wilson. Awesome. BEYOND awesome. I wish he started humming along to the elevator music though.

Falling debris, falling debris, falling debris, KRAKOOM! Show off.

Dude. The Blob's slurpie was HUGE.

Beginning sequence was amazing. Just amazing.

Still no Rose. But possibly the organization still has Weapon X DNA. Laura?

"The guards called him Gambit because he kept taking their money in poker."

Saw the after credits clip. I'm thinking...Itsu?

All in all, loved it. So wanna get it on DVD and go through the cameos one more time. Also, seeing Remy on the big screen was quite a lot for my fangirl side to take. As I said, would've loved it with an extra dash of Cajun spice but still really awesome.

Also, MY AVATAR HAS BEEN MADE BY :iconteiteika:! BOW TO HER GLORY. *ahem* My old avatar was getting a little...Well...Old. I'm too used to it. So instead you can watch a little St. John Allerdyce play with fire while I work on a massive graphic redo. :D

*points down at the things to do list* I'm not gonna be drawing for DA for a long while. List has been changed to reflect this.
